1. C&D Recycling Facility at Lee’s Summit Resource Recovery Park - $25.00
Learn how the Lee’s Summit Resource Recovery Park is leading the way with its unique blend of solid waste services for both residential and commercial sectors. They operate the region’s first Construction and Demolition Recycling Facility which enables them to recycle 100-percent of the concrete, wood, metals, and cardboard they receive. The park is also a one-stop-shop for trash disposal and recycling of e-waste, glass, compost, household hazardous waste (HHW), clean lumber and more. They close the loop locally by operating an HHW swap shop and by processing yard waste into products they sell back to the community.

Visit Arrowhead Stadium where the Kansas City Chiefs have gained major yardage in waste reduction. You’ll get to see their mini MRF where staff separates recyclables and compostables from the stadium bowl after every game. You’ll learn about their recently-acquired biodigesters that compost food waste from the practice facility and concessionaires. The tour includes a visit to Bold Reuse where durable plastic cups for the Chiefs and KC Current soccer team are washed and returned to the stadiums for reuse.

Keynote Speakers:
Republican Sen. Mike Cierpiot was elected to serve in the Missouri Senate during the November 2017 special election. He represents the 8th Senatorial District, covering Eastern Jackson County.
Prior to his time in the Missouri Senate, Sen. Cierpiot served seven years in the Missouri House of Representatives, where he served as the assistant majority floor leader for three years and was later elected to serve as the majority floor leader until the end of his tenure in the Missouri House.
In addition to his legislative duties, Sen. Cierpiot worked at AT&T for 38 years as a network engineer.
Senator Cierpiot is a member of Missouri Right to Life, Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce and the National Rifle Association.
He is the recipient of the 2013 Public Official of the Year Award from Developmental Disability Services of Jackson County – EITAS (Empowering individuals through advocacy and support). Senator Cierpiot also has received the 2013 Spirit of Commerce Award from the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and the 2013 Legislative Award from the St. Louis Business Journal. In addition, he received the Defender of Prosperity Award in both 2013 and 2014 from Americans for Prosperity – Missouri.
Senator Cierpiot is a graduate of De La Salle High School. He attended Longview Community College and the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Senator Cierpiot was born in Kansas City, Missouri. He has lived in Eastern Jackson County for more than 40 years and currently resides in Lee’s Summit. He is married to his wife of 50 years, Connie Cierpiot, who also served as a state representative. They have two children and two grandchildren.

Willie Cade is CEO of Graceful Solutions, the Founder of the Electronics Reuse Conference, and a member of The Repair Association (repair.org). Cade is a well-known leader in the electronics recycling and refurbishment industry. He was involved in developing the R2 certification standard, has co-chaired a Basel Convention committee, and has testified before Congress on e-scrap & right to repair issues.
Ms. Greenwood is a sustainability consultant with over 20 years of experience. Her insight into emerging green building practices and technologies provides a unique perspective for clients pursuing green building certification and sustainable business initiatives. Greenwood Consulting Group was established in 2012 in Kansas City and to date, the team has managed the certification for over 68 million square feet of space. Project experience ranges in building type
and geography. A few local project highlights include: the Kansas City International Airport Terminal, KC Current’s CPKC Stadium, the Kansas City Zoo Aquarium, Kansas City Blue Cross Blue Shield’s Office, and more than 10 K-12 Schools. Ms. Greenwood is a LEED Fellow and WELL Faculty. Her team also manages certification under other rating systems and sustainability strategy and reporting. This keynote presentation will provide a brief overview of market trends in the green building industry and address two leading rating systems that enable building owners, developers and property managers to divert waste from the landfill: LEED and TRUE. Attendees will gain insight into the role that waste hauling providers, designers, and property managers all play in working toward these certifications. Sara will also share a personal glimpse into pursuing LEED-Gold on Kansas City Current’s CPKC Stadium. Sara will share the story behind the pursuit of LEED and address the sustainable building operations that were adopted in the design process to ensure waste reduction. CPKC Stadium is a noble example of sustainable building performance with many fun stories to share.
