6/26/2020 - Please be advised the board and planning committee are currently evaluating tour options so you may see some changes in the program regarding these offerings.  Updates regarding the tours and workshop will be posted on this page and in upcoming conference newsletters.

Noble Hill Sanitary Landfill

Get ready for some trash talking!  We'll get a unique perspective of the Noble Hill Sanitary Landfill--including its history, design and construction features, operations,  environmental monitoring and collaboration with City Utilities to transform the landfill's methane gas into a renewable energy source.  We'll discuss average daily tonnage, results from the most current waste audit, ways city staff are promoting waste reduction, and the landfill's future.  Close toed shoes required.  Safety vests will be provided.

EcoTire/EcoShred
Interested in innovations in tire recycling? Join the tour of EcoTire/EcoShred to see where the rubber meets the road…to recycling. The tour includes a walk-through of the retread shop for Prime, Inc, where you’ll learn how the lifespan of tires is extended through a recapping process. After that, it’s over to the shred shop to see how old tires can be broken down into materials for new products. You’ll get to hear some impressive diversion data and learn about upcoming projects. Bonus: you get to walk around some really big machines!
